about us
history
Early Arts At Edgemont is a preschool program introduced to our community in 1991. Jennie Corley, founding Director, was a former teacher and speech therapist in the Early Arts in Birmingham program as both a teacher and as a parent. When her family moved to the Florence area, she knew she wanted to offer the same creative approach to learning as she had experienced. Early Arts at Edgemont remains a creative preschool focusing on the arts as valuable tools for developing children's skills.
Ms. Jennie retired as Director in 2016, after 25 years of serving her community in this role.

Early Arts is an educational program for pre-schoolers, designed to build skills in three primary areas of early childhood development:
socialization
creative arts
self-concept

Classroom work is designed to better prepare the youngster for entering kindergarten and to enforce the concept that learning is a fun and creative experience.
Our program requires a high degree of teacher involvement with the child, but is intended to permit the child to gain self-confidence by accomplishing creative tasks successfully. Our diverse faculty is uniquely qualified by education & experience. Early Arts continually reviews educational standards for each age we serve. Early Arts meets the requirements for License Exemption with the AL Department of Human Resources.
